Working mums make companies profitable

As a part of my role at KiwiOz Nannies I follow all the childcare blogs, news and rss feeds you could image! As always, there's plenty of press on childcare- and articles like this one:

Childcare crisis looms as grandparents work for longer

and this one:

Childcare costs rise up to $8 a day

really put the spotlight on the looming childcare crisis that the parents of today face.

As always the debate rages on about working mums and the support (or lack thereof) they receive from employers.

In this article Ita Buttrose, the founder of Cleo Magazine talks about her experiences with a nanny, and how she thinks women should demand work packages that include funding for help at home.

However, this recent news clip from the states shows that whilst many agree women need more support in the workplace, this view often isn't supported by the law:

The good news comes at the end of clip- studies show that fortune 500 companies with the best records of putting women in executive positions are on average 40% more profitable.

So while there is lots of talk about work equality but sometimes little action, there is some hope that the bottom line will force employers to pick up the pace.
