If you don't prepare you won't succeed!

My last blog post "Nannies, the Top Ten things you need to know' hinted at what this series would be about and I'm excited to be bringing you the first installment- No. 1 If you don't prepare you won't succeed!

Step 1: Recognising 'Team Family'

Consider this- every family is like a football team. Parents, the team coaches, are responsible for key decisions about strategy and tactics.

The captain, your nanny, is an integral member of the team who leads by example and motivates your star players, the children. At the beginning of the season the coaches decide what the team needs to achieve. They share their goal with the team, ensure everyone's enthusiastic, and go about setting practice times and preparing to succeed!

As the season progresses they celebrate their wins and work hard to improve on weak areas. By the end of the season they have a passionate, supportive team who've enjoyed success and are looking forward to the future.

Step 2: Showing up to practise

When you hire a nanny or start to look for a nanny job, you should think like a member of this team!

Nannies- no star player would show up to trials without putting time and effort into making sure they'll be the very best there. Parents- you can't expect your team to excel without giving them the right tools to succeed. Luckily, at KiwiOz we like to think of ourselves as your team Manager, and it's our responsibility to make sure you have those tools on hand!

Our next installment, No. 2: 5 Top Tips to prepare for interviews will get you started on your preparation journey, so sign up to follow our blog series to make sure you don't miss out!

In the meantime- nannies and parents- do you have any top tips on how working as a team has helped your family get on better together? Share your tips by leaving a comment below!

  1. The families who are run "like teams" have really stood out to us; as nannies, kids and parents are all happy and working towards the same goals. Planning and communication seem to have been the biggest factor which have enabled this. From Lisa @ KiwiOz
