It matters what you do- even if no one is looking!

I read somewhere the other day a piece of advice given by an elder to a youngster- it matters what you do even if no one is looking.

Now since I read this every time I think to myself 'I'll do that tomorrow' or 'it can wait' it rears its sensible head and reminds me that I'll only be letting myself down if I don't go for that run/ tidy up that mess/ call that friend I was meant to.

And despite my regret at now having this 'pearl of wisdom' pop up in my head at least once a day, the message is true. I will feel better about myself if go for that run. I will feel worse about myself if I promise I will do it, and don't.

So as the elder suggests, if you want to feel good about yourself uphold your own goals and morals even when no one else is watching. By living this way, or at least trying your very hardest to, you're showing respect for yourself and your decisions and that's a great way to lead by example to children, whether they're your own or somebody else's.
